Japan to host 2009 ACL final

Japan will host the one-off final of next year’s AFC Champions League at the National Stadium in Tokyo, it was decided at the AFC Professional League Ad-Hoc Committee in Kuala Lumpur on Thursday.

The decision will be finalized with an approval at an AFC Executive Committee meeting on November 26.
The AFC Champions League will be transformed into a new version from next year, featuring 14 member associations who qualified after meeting the AFC criteria on the standard of their professional league.
According to the reformation, the final will also be changed from the current two-leg format to the one-off format, and three associations – Uzbekistan, Kuwait and Japan -- had made a bid to serve as the hosts.
