Japan beat Philippines 12-0 in AFC U-16 qualifier
The Japan Under-15 side started their AFC Under-16 Championship qualifying campaign with a 12-0 victory over the Philippines on Saturday at Panaad Stadium in Bacolod, the Philippines.
Defender Fumiya Hayakawa struck five goals, forward Takumi Minamino scored a hat trick and Takuya Iwanami netted twice. Kosuke Shinjo and Toshiki Takano also scored.
Playing in Group E in the round-robin qualifiers, Japan will play Bangladesh on Monday and Chinese Taipei on Wednesday before meeting Indonesia next Sunday, all at the same venue.
