The Japan Under-18 side downed Singapore 2-0 to book their berth in next year’s AFC Under-19 Championship with their fourth straight win in Group F on Saturday at Si Jalak Harupat Stadium in Bungdon, Indonesia.

A draw would have been enough for Japan to secure a top-two spot in the six-team group and qualify for next year’s Asian competition, which will also serve as a qualifier for the 2011 FIFA Under-20 World Cup.
Takahiko Sumida of Oita Trinita struck two goals – in the 17th and 66th minutes – to help Japan improve their points total to 12 from four wins against no draws and no defeats.
Japan's final qualifier will be against Australia on Tuesday at the same venue.
