The Japan Women’s Under-16 side booked their place in next year’s FIFA Women’s Under-17 World Cup, after beating Australia 6-2 to finish third in the AFC Women’s Under-16 Championship on Sunday at Supachalasai National Stadium in Bangkok.

Forward Mai Kyokawa opened the scoring for Japan in the 32nd minute and added three more goals – in the 53rd, 79th and 88th minutes.
Midfielder Hikaru Naomoto and substitute Hikari Takagi also found the target for Japan.
The FIFA Women’s Under-17 World Cup will be held in Trinidad and Tobago from September 5 to 25 next year.
