Futsal Japan finished second in the inaugural East Asian Futsal  Championship after losing 5-4 to hosts China in the final on Sunday in Beijing.

Japan, who reached the final after beating Korea Republic 6-1 in Saturday’s semifinals, opened the scoring through Tomoaki Watanabe and went on to take a 3-1 lead.
China, who downed Chinese Taipei 5-1 in their semifinal, then scored four straight goals to take the upper hand.
A Shun Nagashima goal cut the deficit to 5-4, but Japan couldn’t produce any more goals.
