The Japan Under-20 side advanced to the semifinals of the East Asian Games with a 5-0 win over Macao in their second match in Group A on Monday in Hong Kong.

Japan’s goals came from midfielder Yuki Oshitani of FC Gifu, Tokushima Voltis forward Yoichiro Kakitani, Omiya Ardija midfielder Takuya Aoki, Kashima Antlers forward Yuya Osako and midfielder Yosuke Kawai of Keio University, as the team picked up their second straight win in the competition.
Japan beat DPR Korea 2-1 in their opening game on Wednesday, with Daisuke Suzuki scoring the winning goal.
Japan will next play the runners-up from Group B on Thursday.
