In support of Japan’s bid to host the World Cup in 2018 or 2002, the 2018/2022 World Cup Organizing Committee was formed on Thursday with JFA President Motoaki Inukai as its head.

Part of the criteria required by FIFA for bidding associations is the formation of an organizing committee while they are still working on their bids.
The 2018/2022 World Cup hosts will be decided at a FIFA Executive Committee meeting in December 2010.
