Zaccheroni appointed as Japan coach

Alberto Zaccheroni, the former boss of AC Milan and Juventus, has been named as the new manager of the Japan national team after the Italian coach and the JFA came to an agreement on Monday.

Zaccheroni, who will become the first Italian to coach the Samurai Blue, is a veteran of Italy’s Serie A.
The native of Meldola helped Udinese qualify for the UEFA Cup in the 1997/98 season before moving to AC Milan, whom he led to the Serie A title in the 1998/99 season. He went on to manage Lazio, Inter Milan and Torino before taking the helm at Juventus in the middle of last season.
Zaccheroni will make his first appearance in Japan at a press conference in Tokyo on Tuesday.
