Japan U-21 squad announced for Asian Games
The Japan Under-21 squad that will take part in the Asian Games in Guangzhou, China, in November was named on Wednesday.
The 20-member squad, which will be managed by former Kawasaki Frontale boss Takashi Sekizuka, features defender Jun Sonoda and midfielder Kyohei Noborizato – both of Frontale – as well as seven college players, including Fukuoka University forward Kensuke Nagai.
Sekizuka, who left Frontale at the end of last season following a six-year spell with the J. League outfit, will make his “Japan debut” with the young Samurai Blue in the upcoming tournament.
The football competition at the Asian Games will be held November 7-25 in Guangzhou, China.
