Nadeshiko Japan finish third in Algarve Cup

The Nadeshiko Japan came from behind to beat Sweden 2-1 to finish third in the Algarve Cup on Wednesday in Parchal, Portugal.

The Japanese women’s gave up a lead in the 14th minute, but seven minutes later, Megumi Kamionobe cancelled that out with her strike. Naomi Kawasumi then broke the tie in the 33rd minute for Japan.
Japan midfielder Homare Sawa was named the Best Player of the Tournament.
United States won the annual invitational tournament with a 4-2 win over Iceland in the final.
