U-17 World Cup draw announced

Japan will play Jamaica, France and Argentina in the group stage of the FIFA Under-17 World Cup 2011 in Mexico, it was determined at the draw on Tuesday.
    The Japanese boys will be making their third straight appearance in the World Cup and will start their 2011 campaign on June 18 against Jamaica in Monterrey. After that, they will meet France on June 21, also in Monterrey, before playing Argentina on June 24 at Morelia in Group B.
    In the 24-team competition, the top two teams from each group plus the four best third-placed finishers will move on to the Round of 16 on June 29 and 30.
    The quarterfinals are scheduled for June 3-4, and the semifinals will take place on July 7. The third-place playoff and the final will be staged on July 10 in Mexico City.
Japan played in the 1993, 1995, 2001, 2007 and 2009 editions and reached the quarterfinals in 1993, but they failed to qualify for the knockout stage in their last two appearances.
