The Japan Football Association has appointed former Urawa Reds and FC Tokyo manager Hiromi Hara as the new technical director charged with strengthening the national team. The appointment was confirmed at a JFA Executive Committee meeting in Tokyo on Thursday.

His predecessor, Takeshi Ono, will become technical director for youth and grass-roots development. JFA Vice President Kuniya Daini will take charge of the two divisions – reinforcement and development – as head of the reformed Technical Committee.
The new technical director for strengthening the national team will not be involved in the appointment of the national team coach.
The reformation of the Technical Committee was initiated by JFA President Motoaki Inukai, who is aiming to improve youth development.
The JFA also appointed JFA youth development director Keiichiro Nuno as Japan Under-18 coach and Hirofumi Yoshitake as Japan Under-15 coach.
