Ogasawara, J. League players appointed as Japan bid ambassadors

Kashima Antlers midfielder Mitsuo Ogasawara, who won the 2009 J. League MVP Award, will help Japan’s bid for the 2018/2022 World Cups as an ambassador, it was announced Friday.

Sanfrecce Hiroshima forward Hisato Sato, Kyoto Sanga forward Atsushi Yanagisawa, Urawa Reds midfielder Keita Suzuki and Gamba Osaka goalkeeper Yosuke Fujigaya were among a number of other J. League players appointed as ambassadors.
With these latest appointments, the number of Japan bid ambassadors totals 28.

Ambassadors for Japan’s 2018/2022 World Cup bids:
Dragan Stojkovic, Nagoya Grampus manager and former player
Guido Buchwald, former Urawa Reds player and manager
Ivica Osim, former Japan coach and JEF United Chiba manager
Makoto Hasebe, VfL Wolfsburg midfielder
Masashi Nakayama, Consadole Sapporo and former Jubilo Iwata forward
Philippe Troussier, Japan’s 2002 World Cup coach and FC Ryukyu general manager
Shunsuke Nakamura, Japan and Espanyol midfielder
Toshiya Fujita, Roasso Kumamoto and former Jubilo Iwata midfielder
Tsuneyasu Miyamoto, Vissel Kobe and former Gamba Osaka defender
Zico, Japan’s 2006 World Cup coach
